Reflexology is an ancient art of foot massage which has been practiced for thousands of years. It is a therapy based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all glands, organs, and systems of the human body. It is believed that energy runs through the body in channels known as meridians and that each organ and part of the body is reflected in the feet. By stimulating these reflexes in a gentle specific manner, good health can be restored.
Benefits of Reflexology include reduction in pain and inflammation and enhanced relaxation. Reflexology works on the nerve endings on the feet and hands restoring health through enhanced nerve function, muscle tone and circulation. It restores balance to the body and enables the body to function more efficiently.
Reflexology is not a quick fix, it takes time to undo bad habits and thinking patterns that cause illness and disease. Four to five sessions may be required to balance the body and restore it to health.
To begin I will ask you some general questions about your health and lifestyle.
Then I will explain to you what reflexology is and how a treatment might affect you, i.e. you may feel tired after a treatment.
You will lie back on a special recliner chair or on a massage table and the treatment will begin with gentle pressure being applied to the feet. The whole process takes about one hour.
